Former Beaver Matt Gunter drafted by the Blue Jays

Matt Gunter, who pitched for American River College in 2014 &15 was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 33rd round of the Major League Baseball first year player draft.  He was the 999th pick overall.  Gunter was the Pac-West Conference Pitcher of the Year at Hawaii Pacific University this year.  While at A.R.C. he was a two-time 2nd team All-BIG 8 Conference selection.  He recorded 7 wins for the Beavers his sophomore season. "We am really happy for Matt getting drafted this year", said A.R.C. Head Coach Doug Jumelet.  "He has worked really hard and it was always his dream to be taken in the draft.  We are excited to see where this can take him and how he progresses in the minor leagues and up through the Blue Jays system".
