Freshman RHP Colling Carriger (Bella Vista; pictured, left) and freshman infielder Lane Field (Whitney; pictured, right) were named to the All-BIG 8 Conference 2nd team on Wednesday Head Coach Doug Jumelet announced.
Carriger was 3-3 on the year with a 3.82 ERA. He tied for the conference lead in innings pitches in conference play with 52 in 8 starts. He is the first A.R.C. starting pitcher to land all-conference honors since Matt Gunter (Bella Vista) did in 2014. Gunter is now pitching in the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
Field started the season as the teams shortstop but also played many of his games at first base. He led the team in hits (45), batting average (.341) and RBI (25). He was tied for 4th in batting average in conference play among all BIG-8 infielders.
Sophomore RF Justin Bejarano (Elk Grove), INF Christian Murua (Grant) and utility player Ray henry (Colfax) earned honorable mention BIG 8 Conference honors.
