Almost half of the 2018 American River College baseball team, 14 of the 29 players, earned a 3.0 GPA or better in the Spring semester Head Coach Doug Jumelet announced on Tuesday. Two of the players, freshman Nick Perry (Rio Linda) and sophomore Justin Hanlin (Whitney) had 4.0's.
"We have made the student part of the term student-athlete a priority and it has really shown," said Jumelet. We have guys who weren't good students before really buying in and it is awesome to see them have success on the field and in the classroom. Just as important, we had several guys who didn't have good grades in the fall really improve this Spring, maybe not to a 3.0, but pretty close. I am really happy for them."
