ARC-8 De Anza-1
Overall: 6-0 Conference: 1-0

The Beavers remained undefeated as they beat the Dons from De Anza 8-1. The final score was not indicative of the competitiveness of the match, with three of the six matches going to three sets, and the Beavers winning all three. At #1 singles Paul Bhatia fought back from a set down to control play in the second set and force a ten-point tiebreak. In the tiebreak the De Anza #1, Evan Gazikian, took an early lead at 7-2, but Bhatia was able to regain control of the momentum and closed out the match 10-8 in the match tiebreak. At #2 Mikey Vizcarra won a match full of tiebreaks, 7-6(4), 6-7(6), 10-7. Playing De Anza #2 Aditya Goyal, Vizcarra was able to find the final swing of momentum to take the match tiebreak as the last match on. At #5 Rob Kendall also won his match in 3 sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. In another match full of momentum swings, Kendall went up 3-0 to start the match, only to have the De Anza #5, Fabiano Ferrada-Munoz, fight back for a 6-4 first-set victory. In the second set Kendall never lost control, winning the set 6-1. In the deciding set Kendall and Ferrada-Munoz were tied at 3-3 when Kendall locked in and closed out the match by winning the last 3 games for a 6-3 third-set victory. Pete Gibson (#4) and Andrei Anderson (#6) won competitive straight-set matches 6-4, 6-4 and 7-5, 6-2 respectively. Sam Hall (#3) won when De Anza #3, Yuriy Anisimov, was unable to continue due to a shoulder injury after Hall won the first set 6-2.

The doubles matches were also extremely competitive at the top two positions. At #1 Hall/Vizcarra were unable to finish after being up an early break against De Anza #1 Gaviano/Gazikian. After the De Anza #1 team broke back, the match went to a tiebreak, which the Dons were able to win 7-5. At #2 doubles Bhatia/Gibson were in a tight match until 4-4, but then took control, winning the final 4 games to take the match 8-4. At #3 doubles Anderson/Kendall were dominant from start to finish, winning 8-0, never feeling threatened against the Dons #3 team of Ferrada-Munoz/Nooh Palizi.

The Beavers will next face Solano on Friday (3/2) and NorCal #2, Foothill College, on Saturday (3/3) on their quest for a 7th consecutive conference title and 3rd straight NorCal title.
