The men’s track 7 field team grabbed their 5th straight conference title after scoring 229 points, nearly 100 in front of 2nd placed Modesto Junior College.

Jeff Lam placed 4th overall in Northern California in the Decathlon. His total of 6163 was good enough to take 5 points into the team championship, where they have 4 straight team titles dating back to 2011.

Mt San Antonio College, Walnut, CA James Hubbard took over the state lead in the hammer with a heave of 194’. Robert Ellis won the 100m in a state leading time of 10.42, but subsequently strained his hamstring leaning for the finish line.

Stanford University Robert Ellis placed 5th overall in the 100m final in 10.57 after running 10.46 in the trials earlier in the day.

Season PR’s were few and far between on the slow surface at UC Davis. Isaiah Roybal PR’ed in the 200m in 22.60. Also bettering their best mark were Charlie Flournoy and Gibran Zaman in 22.82 and 22.90.

The men’s distance crew headed to Southern California to face off with some top athletes from all over the state and beyond. In the first race of our night, David French improved on his season best 800m time with a 1:53.08 effort, good for 6th in the fast heat. Logan Stahl, last year’s state champion, and still feeling the fatigue of his comeback from a hip injury, ran 1:55.18, which is still 1.5 seconds ahead of last year’s pace.

The American River College men’s track & field team opened up their NorCal title defense in dominating fashion by taking 1st place in the 16 of the 17 events. That is great news for the Beavers with colleges such as Sac City, Butte, San Mateo, Shasta, Marin and Yuba all in attendance.
