Don Knabe Park, Cerritos, CA
The American River college men's cross country team made the trip down to Southern California to compete in the stacked SoCal Preview at Don Knabe Park in Cerritos, CA. With 9 of the top 10 state teams in the field the Beavers walked away with a 5th place finish. The ARC men are training through the early season meets, focusing on getting stronger for the late season championship run. Leading the way for the Beavers was freshman Ben Blankenburg's 15th place finish in the 313 man field, covering the 4 miles in 20:42. 5 of the top 7 Beavers were freshmen, including #2 Josh Kling who finished in 30th place in 21:05. After that it was nearly a photo finish behind the tight pack of Beavers with Logan Dodge (soph) 48th place (21:17), freshman Peter Vo (50th, 21:18), freshman Jorge Pena (51st, 21:20), sophomore Brent Hunter (52nd, 21:20), and freshman Ben Kizziar (55th, 21:23). This week the Beavers will take the week off of racing to concentrate on training, before competing against several 4-year college at the Capital Cross Challenge and the NorCal Preview the following week.
