ARC TAKES SERIES FROM SAC CITY WITH 16-2 VICTORY
With each of the first two games against cross-town rival Sacramento City College ending in 10th inning walk-off victories, one for each team, it was natural to think that Friday's series finale would be a close game as well. Not so fast, my friend. After Sac City scored a run in the top of the first off of starter Eli Campbell (Cordova), it was all ARC the rest of the way. The Beavers chased Sac City starter Joe Muraoka before he could get an out as the Beavers tallied 5 runs in the first. American River added another pair of runs in the 2nd inning to go quickly up 7-1. After Sac City held ARC scoreless in the third the Panthers got an unearned run in the 4th off of lefty Quincey Carr (Whitney) to make the score 7-2, but that was as close as Sac City would get. The Beavers answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the 4th to go up 10-2. They got two more in the 5th to make the score 12-2. Freshman RHP Kaedin Bulock (Yuba City) came on in the 6th inning slated to throw just a pair of innings but with the comfortable lead he was able to close out the game, throwing four innings, allowing just one hit while striking out two. The four innings of work allowed him to earn the save despite the score not being close.
Freshman CF Dylan Westbrook (Oak Ridge) had a nice day at the plate going 2x3 with a double and a pair of walks, but sophomore 2B Jayden Reynolds (Bella Vista) had the best day at the plate going 4x5 with a double and 3 RBI. Freshman LF Rylan Pope (McClatchy) capped a nice series against the Panthers with a 2x4, 3 RBI performance.
The Beavers are now coming down the home stretch with three conference series remaining. They will face off with another Los Rios District foe, Folsom Lake College on Tuesday at Folsom Lake at 2:00 p.m. Thursdays game is slated for Beaver Field at 2:00 p.m. Friday's series finale has been moved to a 4:00 p.m. start at Folsom Lake.
