BEAVERS GET FIRST WIN OF SEASON AT HOME

BEAVERS GET FIRST WIN OF SEASON AT HOME

The American River College broke a 5 game losing streak to Feather River College by defeating the Golden Eagles 9-2 at Beaver Field on Thursday.  The Beavers last win over Feather River came on February 2nd, 2018 in a 5-1 victory.  On Thursday the Beavers got down 2-0 in the 2nd inning as the Golden Eagles got a pair of runs off of Beaver starter Ayden Dringenberg (Oakmont).  The righty had a smooth first inning, but gave up the two runs in the 2nd on a pair of walks, a leadoff hit batter and a couple of singles.  But that was all he would allow in going 6 innings with 6 strikeouts in his first college start.  After the rocky 2nd inning Dringenberg recorded three straight 3 up, 3 down innings.  While he was keeping Feather River at bay the offense came alive, scoring a run in the bottom of the 2nd on a sacrifice fly by sophomore 1B Jose Vega (Highlands) who had a big day with a pair of hits and 4 RBI.  The Beavers took the lead that they would hold on to in the 3rd inning, scoring 5 times, with freshman RF Brandon Pelechowicz (Yuba City) picking up an RBI on the 2nd of his 3 hits on the day.  Vega then followed up with a 2 run single to put the Beavers ahead.  Sophomore LF Rylan Pope (McClatchy) added an RBI single and sophomore C Eli Campbell (Cordova) picked up an RBI on a bases loaded walk.  ARC extended the lead in the 4th when sophomore DH Jackson Nichols (Valley Christian) laced an RBI single to left to drive in sophomore 2B Lance Sabatke (River City).  Jose Vega picked up his 4th RBI of the day a couple of batters later, driving in Pelechowicz to put ARC up 8-4.  The Beavers got an insurance run in the 7th inning on an RBI single by Lance Sabatke

Sophmore RHP Kaden Clive (Delta) threw a scoreless 7th and 8th inning for ARC and sophomore RHP Ethan Palumbo (Antelope) finished it off with a scoreless 9th inning, striking out a pair to give the Beavers their first win of the season.  They will be looking for win #2 tomorrow against Feather River with the game starting at 1:00 p.m.
