BEAVERS USE BIG INNING TO WIN SLOPPY GAME 14-4 OVER SAC CITY

It most certainly was not the prettiest game played by American River College, but on Saturday they used an 8 run 7th inning to win game three of the series against the cross-town rival Sac City Panthers 14-4.  The Beavers jumped ahead from the 2nd batter of the game as leadoff hitter Bryce Sabatke (River City) singled on the first pitch of the game, then stole second on the third pitch.  Starting pitcher Brandon Pelechowicz (Yuba City) then doubled to right center to score Sabatke.  The Beavers added three more hits in the inning, including a run scoring double from CF Luke Haney (Oak Ridge).  The Beavers scored three runs in the first inning both games at Union Stadium this series.  Sac City got one in the 2nd inning off of Pelechowicz, but the Beavers got the run back in the 4th thanks to a 2 out RBI single from Sabatke.  But Sac City came back, scoring a run in the bottom of the 4th to keep the game at 4-2.  ARC used a one out Lance Sabatke (River City) single to go back up 5-2 in the top of the 5th inning, then scored the 6th run on a Bryce Sabatke sac fly in the top of the 6th.  But again, Sac City came right back, scoring twice in the bottom of the 6th, with one of the runs being unearned.  There were two ARC errors in the inning and it took three Beaver pitchers to get out of the 6th, with sophomore Ethan Palumbo (Antelope) recording the final out of the inning.  With the game standing at 6-4 going into the 7th it looked like it was going to be a nailbiter but Sophomore Jose Vega (Highlands) led off with a double which started an 8 run barrage which sealed the game for ARC.  The Beavers sent 7 batters to the plate before Sac City was able to record an out, with the Beavers tallying four hits, a walk, a hit batter, and one who reached on an error before the first out.  A couple of defensive miscues as well as some shaky command on the mound from Sac City aided the Beavers cause.  By the end the Beavers tallied 18 hits on the day with every starting player recording at least one hit on the day.

Next, the Beavers will look to the other side of town as they will face off with Folsom Lake College on Tuesday at Beaver Field at 2:00 pm.
