BEAVERS ONCE AGAIN GIVE AWAY CLOSE GAME LATE
For the second straight game American River College and Sacramento City College were in a close game in the 7th inning. The Panthers led 3-1 going into the 7th inning despite having just three hits at the time. Their first two runs came in the 1st inning on a towering 2 run home run to right field. ARC narrowed the lead in the 3rd inning when SS Bryce Sabatke (River City) drove the first pitch he saw over the left field fence for his first career home run. The 7th inning got ugly, just as the Beavers turned a close game on Tuesday into a rout for Sac City, the same thing happened on Thursday. The Panthers would plate 9 runs in the inning, most of them unearned thanks to a couple of ARC errors and 7 Sac City hits in the inning off of 4 different ARC pitchers. Freshman Ayden Dringenberg (Oakmont) pitched well, allowing just the four runs, two earned over 6 1/3 innings of work.
ARC managed to score a run in the 8th and two in the 9th, but the game had pretty much been decided by then. With Sac City having locked up the series, the Beavers will look to avoid the sweep on Saturday at Sacramento City College.
