PALUMBO PITCHES BEAVERS TO VICTORY WITH COMPLETE GAME GEM

PALUMBO PITCHES BEAVERS TO VICTORY WITH COMPLETE GAME GEM

Sophomore RHP Ethan Palumbo (Antelope) threw the Beavers first complete game of the season on Tuesday at Beaver Field, leading ARC to a 10-3 win in breaking the Beavers 6 game losing skid.  Palumbo retired the first 12 batters he faced in order before allowing a bloop single to center in which the batter was actually thrown out at second trying to stretch it into a double.  He retired the next two batters to have faced the minimum of 15 batters through 5 innings.  After ARC got on the board in the third inning thanks to doubles by RF Brandon Pelechowicz (Yuba City), SS Bryce Sabatke (River City) and 2B Lance Sabatke (River City) the Beavers were up 3-0.  They added on in the 4th scoring a couple of unearned runs thanks to a couple of CRC errors and RBI singles from Pelechowicz, Bryce Sabatke and DH Rylan Pope (McClatchy) which put ARC up 7-0.  CRC got to Palumbo in the 7th inning, scoring three runs but a couple of nice defensive plays at first base by Luke Haney (Oak Ridge) kept the Hawks at bay.  ARC added three more runs in the 8th inning with the big blow being a two run single up the middle past a drawn-in infield by Lance Sabatke to put the Beavers up 10-3.  CRC did get their 4th hit of the game in the 9th inning off of Palumbo but he was able to close out the game for the complete game win.  The two teams will meet on Thursday at CRC at Conway Field for game 2 of the 3 game set.
