BOWERS PITCHES BEAVERS TO SERIES WIN OVER CRC WITH 7-5 WIN

Freshman RHP Ben Bowers (Folsom) was in complete command on Saturday, pitching American River College to a 7-5 win at Beaver Field.  Bowers threw 6 innings and scattered 8 hits, allowing three runs, just two earned.  He threw 86 pitches, 61 for strikes in improving his record to 4-2 on the season.  CRC did get on the board first, scoring a run on three hits in the first inning, but Bowers allowed just 5 hits the rest of the way.  ARC took the lead in the 3rd inning after sophomore C Grant Fletcher (Yuba City) led off with a walk, then SS Bryce Sabatke (River City) bunted for a base hit.  RF Brandon Pelechowicz (Yuba City) then singled to right to load the bases.  Those three then scored on a error, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by LF Jackson Nichols (Valley Christian) to put ARC up 3-1.  After CRC closed the gap to 3-2, the Beavers bumped the lead up to 5-2 thanks to back-to-back doubles by Pelechowicz and 1B Jose Vega (Highlands) and another sac fly by Nichols in the 5th inning.  The Hawks got an unearned run off of Bowers in the 6th inning to make the score 5-3.  It remained that way until the 8th when 1B Luke Haney (Oak Ridge) doubled in Nichols to put ARC up 6-3, then 2B Lance Sabatke (River City) scored on a wild pitch to make the score 7-3.  The Hawks did not go down quietly in the 9th however, as Brandon Pelechowicz, who had come on in relief in the 7th inning, got the first out but then walked and hit a batter, sandwiched around a ground.  CRC then got a hit to make the score 7-4.  Sophomore Ethan Palumbo, who pitched a complete game on Tuesday came in to get the last batter, but a shallow pop fly landed between three Beavers in right center field to make the score 7-5.  Palumbo got the next batter to hit a two hopper to third for the final out and give ARC their 4th BIG 8 Conference series of the season.

The Beavers round out the 2026 regular season next week with a three game series against San Joaquin Delta College.  The Beavers final home game is scheduled for Thursday at 2:00 pm.
