BEAVERS DROP GAME THREE TO DELTA, AWAIT PLAYOFFS
The 2026 baseball season came to a close Friday with the American River College squad dropping a 6-4 decision to Delta College in Stockton. Delta was in control early, scoring a run in the 3rd inning off of starter Brandon Pelechowicz (Yuba City), then putting up 4 runs in the 4th inning, with the big blow being a three run home run with one out. The Mustangs improved their lead to 6-0 with a run in the 7th inning off of freshman reliever Ethan Massi (Pleasant Grove). But the Beavers made it a game late, scoring a run in the 8th inning as Pelechowicz scored SS Bryce Sabtake (River City) from third on a ground out after Sabatke had doubled to lead off the inning. The Beavers then made the game real interesting in the 9th after a leadoff single from RF Jackson Nichols (Valley Christian) and a double from pinch hitter Grant Fletcher (Yuba City) to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Freshman 3B Jameson Barnes (Twelve Bridges) grounded out to drive in Nichols and make the score 6-2. 3B Luke Haney (Oak Ridge) then singled in Fletcher to close the gap even further. Bryce Sabatke then doubled in Haney with his second straight double to make the score 6-4. After a wild pitch moved Sabatke to third C Eli Campbell (Cordova) grounded out to end the game.
The Beavers, who are ranked #20 in the Northern California RPI will find out their playoff fate on Sunday.
