Football Defeats #20 Sierra College to Move to 3-0 in Conference

One week after an overtime victory at Butte College, the American River College Football program would experience another ovetime game.  This time against local rival #20 Sierra College on Saturday.

The Beavers would again come out on top, defeating Sierra after two overtimes by a final score 44-41.  The first half was dominated mianly by the Beavers.  Running back Elias Brown would put the Beavers on the board first after scoring on a 50 yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the game.  Sierra would respond in the second quarter with a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7, however the Beavers would answer right back with a pair of touchdowns by Terquaverlis Wallace (21 yard run) and Elias Brown (10 yard run) to take a 20-7 lead into halftime.

In the second half Sierra's offense exploded scoring 20 points in the third quarter, even taking a 27-26 lead.  Elias Brown would score two more touuchdowns in the third quarter from 3 yards and 1 yard to give a 34-27 lead back to the Beavers going into the 4th quarter.  However, on their final drive in the 4th quarter Sierr would score a touchdown to send the game into overtime tied at 34-34.

In the first overtime, the Beavers would get the ball first.  Elias Brown would score his 5th touchdown of the day on a 5 yard run.  Sierra would respond on their possesion with touchdown run of their own to send the game into a second overtime tied at 41-41.

In the second overtime, the Beavers defense would step up and force a turnover on downs after holding Sierra from converting a 4th and 9.  The Beavers offense would get the ball and utilize their strong running game to position the ball for a 18 yard field that kicker Cameron Smith would knock though the uprights for the 44-41 victory.

With the win the Beavers improve to 3-0 in conference and 5-3 overall.  The Beavers will now prepare to keep their positive momentum as they travel to play at Santa Rosa Junior College on Saturday, November 9th, at 5 PM.
