Beavers Secure Second at Aggie Open
The American River College men's track and field team continued their impressive season with a powerhouse performance at the 2026 Aggie Open, held at UC Davis on March 21, 2026. Competing against high-level programs, the Beavers claimed second place overall, finishing with a strong team score that trailed the host UC Davis Aggies by only 33 points.
Championship Performances
The Beavers' success was fueled by several individual event victories and depth across the board:
Running Events: The Beavers ventured outside of their traditional events to showcase strength across the board. The men showed its speed early, securing a runner-up finish in the 4x100m relay with a time of 42.38. Cameron Smith led the sprint group with a 10.86 in the 100m and a 22.20 in the 200. Deniro Washington narrowly missed a sub 11 100, running 11.07. Ty Ertel, Devin Pringle, and Asher Laverty had a huge improvement in their respected events. In a photo finish for the 110m hurdles, Jayden Goodwin clocked a 15.63 to take second, narrowly missing the top spot by 0.01 seconds.
Field Events: The team dominated the jumps, taking first place in both the Pole Vault and the Long Jump. Taking second and third in the high jump and going 4, 5, and 6 in the Javelin.
Team Depth and Rankings
The Beavers utilized their full roster to secure valuable points, with numerous athletes placing in the top 8 of their respective events. This performance reinforces ARC's status as a top contender this season as they continue to build momentum toward the championship phases. The next competition will be in Fresno, CA at the West Coast Relays.
