Women's Water Polo #3 seed in Northern California Regional Championships

Entering week six of the regular season, the ARC Women's Water Polo team found themselves in fifth place in the Big 8 Conference with only two conference games remaining. But with an unbelievable 7-6 road win against 2nd place San Joaquin Delta College and 3-2 home win against 4th place Fresno City College on Sophomore Appreciation Night, the Beavers played their way all the way up to 2nd place entering the Big 8 Conference Championships!

As the #2 seed at the Big 8 Conference Championships, ARC opened up the play-off tournament against #7 Modesto College defeating them 16-3. In the semi-final match-up, the Beavers faced the tournament host San Joaquin Delta College. The Mustangs were eager for a rematch after losing to ARC at home two weeks prior but the Beavers were prepared and ready for a tough battle. After a nail biting finish, ARC proved victorious defeating Delta by a score of 7-6 as they advanced to the Big 8 Conference Championship game. ARC would eventually fall to Diablo Valley College in the final, but finished 2nd overall in the Big 8 Conference.

#12 Emily Perry (So.) leads all Beavers in scoring with 101 goals on the season so far. #11 Rya Minow (Fr.) leads the team in ejections drawn with 56. Sophomore goalkeeper #1 Avery Dotterer (So.) has already surpassed her record-breaking freshman campaign with 299 saves!

American River College will continue their post-season run at home as the Beavers will host the 2014 Northern California Regional Championships on November 14-15. This tournament features the top six men's and women's water polo teams from all across Northern California. ARC will enter the tournament as the #3 seed and face-off against the #6 seed Sierra College at 11:30am on Friday, Nov 14. The winner will face #2 Foothill College on Saturday at 9:20am for a chance to compete in the 2014 State Water Polo Championships.

The 2014 State Water Polo Championships will also be hosted by American River College on November 21-22. The top two teams from Northern and Southern California will face-off to decide the 2014 State Champion!
